Martlets was recently built by your host, Jill, as her private home, and she now extends a warm and friendly welcome to guests to stay in her two comfortable and stylish rooms. With a relaxed atmosphere, personal attention, and Shanklin Old Village and the seafront just a short walk away, Martlets is a wonderful base from which to explore the Isle of Wight.

Martlets offers two comfortable double rooms, both en-suite, and both south-facing, overlooking the garden and open countryside.

The en-suite shower room enjoys views across the woodland garden towards the sea and Culver Cliff in the distance.

Breakfast at Martlets is a relaxed and sociable way to start the day.
Guests are served breakfast in the Dining Room which features a beautiful bay window overlooking the garden.
Alongside cereals, fruit, yoghurt, toast and preserves, we also offer a full English breakfast, freshly cooked to order.
There’s also juice, tea and freshly brewed coffee.
On warm sunny mornings, breakfast is often enjoyed on the terrace – a guest favourite!
If you’re lucky, you may even spot our resident red squirrels!
Shanklin is one of the Isle of Wight’s most loved seaside towns – a place where traditional coastal charm meets a relaxed, easy pace of life. With its sandy beach, picturesque Old Village and plenty to explore, it’s the perfect setting for a memorable stay.
Just a short stroll away, Shanklin Beach stretches along the bay, with golden sands and a lively seafront. Whether it’s a morning walk by the water or an afternoon spent soaking up the sunshine, it’s easy to see why it’s such a favourite!
Wander just down the hill from Martlets and you’ll find Shanklin Old Village, full of thatched cottages, independent tea rooms and gift shops. It’s a lovely spot to explore at any time of day, especially in the evening when everything feels a little more magical.
For something different in the evening, Shanklin Theatre offers a varied programme of shows throughout the year, while the nearby Shanklin Chine provides a beautiful walk through a leafy gorge with waterfalls and views across the coast.
